Wanting to go SQ in my car....

Hey, I just got my hands on an 06 Saturn Ion QC.

Now, here's what I have so far as far as sound goes

Rockford Fosgate P.4004 amp (4X50W, but apparently really 4X84W @ 4ohms)
Alpine CDA-9831 H.U.
Alpine MRP-M450 amp : 1X400W @ 2ohms, 1X220 @ 4ohms
10" Alpine TypeR Dual 4ohms in a crappy bassworx box, but I'm gonna get something custom made for it.

So far, that's it. After discussing setups with a guy I know, we came up with this. Tweeters in the A pillars, 4" mids in fiberglass pods placed in the corners of the dash near the windshield. Midbass drivers in the doors. Door panels will be redone in fiberglass to get proper speaker positionning and air volume.

If I go that route, I'm probably gonna pick up a 2 channel amp for the door speakers to give em like 100~150W each @ 4ohms and keep my 4 channel amp for midrange and tweets. Get the whole thing to go as an active 3 way frontstage. Nothing in the back, or just some cheaper speakers hooked up directly to the radio for those rare times where someone is actualy in the back.

So, what do you guys think of this plan ?

I was thinking trying to get my hands on an Audiocontrol DQX processor...

My budget isn't really set for this project. I guess it'll go with what I find reasonable as I go along since I'm giving myself almost 6 months to do this.

Why don't you mock up the build prior to doing it, instead of some-guy making a decision for you why don't you make the decision yourself. The Ion is an awesome SQ car, do it right and it will reward you.

I won't just go ahead and tell the guy "ok, build it" before we try it out to get an idea of what it can sound like.... Well, as far as the soundstage goes anyways...

And, I don't really mind if getting the sound "right" is a pain in the ass, as this is really a long term project.

i like the mock up think

but how he have it would be good but the mock up would let you get it (best for sq )

the 911 has in the dash the highs and mids hitting the glass and the subs in the doors

I was wondering... does the fact that the Ion have polymer panels change anything to the whole sound deadning over normal metal panels ?

Just wondering for when I start putting dynamat in.
