What sounds good these days?
 

Well i figured it would only be a matter of time before i was looking to build another system and i guess the day is here.

The build is going to be in my 05 F350. Ive decided to park my Charger for a while and let time catch up with the miles. I want a decent return as i plan on trading it in on a Hellcat in a few years(or the equivelant if the hellcat isnt around anymore).

The truck is a diesel, so im definatly going to be going nuts with deadener. Of most importance will be the firewall. That 6.0l powerstroke is pretty noisy. I also find that the doors are pretty thin so im gonna deaden those up big time as well.

For the sound part, im thinking a 4 channel of 75wrms or more would be the minimum. Ill also want 1000+wrms for sub(s). I plan on using the truck as a truck and not a show car so im hesitant to use kickpanel mounted mids.....which leaves a few options.
1. Door speakers. Not my favourite option. Sound quality is important. But id settle for tonality over imaging.
2. A-pillar mounted midrange and tweets. This isnt a terrible option. The a pillars are fairly large and i know of a couple smaller midranges that would fit nicely.
3. Horns. Not really what i want but it could be made to work and they would be up away from mud and .

Im thinking that the doors are quite large and an 8" midbass would work quite nicely.

For subs im pretty limited for space as the truck is only extended cab. So id like to stay with 8's or 10s. Ive heard the Sundown 8's and was quite impressed. 2 of them got real loud in a big TL box. Of course i dont have room for a TL enclosure but i could run 3-4 subs under the back seat.

My dilema is that im not sure what brands to look at. I sold all my stuff long ago. I remember what i used to like but that was 10 years ago now lol.....so what should i be looking at? My mids and tweets will likely be HiVi Research if i do a pillars. They have beauty dome midranges and their soft dome tweeters are excellent. But what else? Headunot will be some kind of double din Alpine. Probably gonna just use the xovers on whatever amps i get with some help from the deck.

Anyway, any input would be appreciated.
