RE XXX any day of the week.
|
Why???
In my contry i never speak this subs. |
the RE XXX is a very loud sub, with very good power handling. But it also sounds excellent, I've told the story often of how a friend of mine put one up against a JL W7 of the same size, in a simliar box, both optimized for the same response. and a JL product rep chose the XXX as the better sub in front of a crowd of people.

No matter which speaker you choose, the cabinet will be the determining factor as to how ANY speaker will sound best for SPL & SQ.
I would not recommend a 3 woofer system, a number of problems may arise, try to keep an even(2-4) number of woofers. You will find that any woofer will sound different in different shape and size of box, just like your voice sounds different in different rooms. |
Vifa, all Vifa (jokes) Ask Tim Baillie or Dukk, there geniuses. BTW, how the heck did you get onto Canadian Car audio..... if your from brazil?

We let all people on - even AMERICANS
lol - just kidding all you filthy yanks :D |

Voices sounding different in different rooms is because of the reflections (or lack of) off the surfaces in the rooms that you hear. This would be analogous to speakers sounding different in different rooms. |
^ I disagree to a point. An enclosure with all parallel walls can be differant than that of a rounded enclosure.

As I said, not for subs - wavelength is too long for it to matter. Make the walls rigid, and you're done.
|
if you going to build a cube like box, use a "brace" in the middle (a big one) angled at 45 degrees, that breaks up something called "standing waves" inside the box, which GREATLY helps clarity and a little SPL. Bracing keeps the box solid againest flexing. Flexing is really bad

All Brazil wanted was a suggestion to his question, we're going from a standing wave..,into red shift here.

Seriously I have heard the current Rockford drivers and they can SQ well and they thump. If you want to be extremely loud and have great SQ then that thins the selections. I would add the BIG JBL’s (Gti series) and the new Memphis LVS driver in the mix.
I have heard the GTi and the LVS in SQ systems and they sounded good! I have also enjoyed the JL W6 in some 140+dB systems. http://www.jbl.com/car/products/category.aspx?cat=sub http://www.memphiscaraudio.com/produ...cat=&id=32&p=2 [ January 22, 2005, 05:21 PM: Message edited by: JohnVroom ] |
Throw the Image Dynamics IDmax in there... killer SQ, and tons of SPL.
|
here we go again.....................
|
LOL
could go with the DLS iridium subs... but I really can't recommend untill I hear them |
I have heard the Peerless XLS subs. It really is a great sub. But I'm not sure if it will produce the SPL you may need. I am also looking in to the subs. All I need is a 135db score and I would be sold.

My Vifa can easily hit 135. My amp is badly clipping, and in a SQ box, and i still did 131. the Vifa is 97 db/watt/meter. So its crazy effecient for a car audio sub. It sounds........ unbelieveable, Im extermely happy with it, I'll never buy another sub again. The cool part is, I can get a new one, in a built-to-exact-spec pro. made SQ box for $200 CAD.
