My original amp was using 4 gauge wire and I recently purchased another amp that recommends 1/0 gauge wire! I just added another 4 gauge wire to the amp(now it has 2, 4 gauge wires) and it works good and I gained 2 db, my question is, if I were to change it over to 1/0 gauge wire would I really notice the difference(db,sq,or whatever)? I dont really want to spend the money for little to no improvement! Oh, New amp is mtx 1501d if that helps!

Thanks
David

IIRC, no warranty on those amps unless 0 gauge is used (that might be the line up amp though). Use the zero guage and ensure you have a very good ground.

I understand that 1/0 gauge wire would be ideal! but I also have to look at the cost/benefit. I would like to know what gains(db,or better sq, or what) I can expect by re-wiring my system? Cost to me I believe in $200 - 250 range.

Thanks
david

I got my 0 gauge for 60 bucks, including a 100A fuse and 3 way distro block all PG, 17ft, platinum hookups. You jsut gotta look around for a deal, preferably used.

2 4 gauge wires should be equal to 1 0 gauge. May want to got to 0 gauge for the warrenty issue. Even just add another run of power through a jagged hole in your fire wall, LOL, like King said.

but interms of current, I think the two 4 gauge should be transfering the current as well as 1/0 gauge so interms of db I shouldn't expect any increase! Am I right???
