Well, that is why your one sub hits hard?...you've got two HIgh power amps powering it...not every-one has the voltage system to sustain the demands of high power amps, it is alot more convenient to add another sub and generally acheive similar results, with the down-side of only gaining a bit of extra weight in your trunk, while still keeping y our electricall system functioning well.
I've never heard of reconing a sub onto a different motor...that is where precise calibration of all points on the surround and motor a required in order for the sub to perform properly.. most manufactured subs on the market don't even come close to the tight tolerances required for a solid built sub, due to time limitations in the production process. I had a dust cap re-glued onto a 12" sub before, and never had any mojor problems.

who did the recone job ? it is a possiblility....but if she ***** fine with test tones its pretty hard to say there is a problem with the sub itself !?!?

perfect tonez in milton did the recone job. Im pretty sure there's nothing wrong with the sub since it can handle sine waves without sweating. I'm beginning to think that there may be a problem with my electrical system. If my amp is sending a clipped signal to the sub, will that cause it to bottom out? And secondly, could a bad ground be responsible for this? I have yet to check the resistance on my ground but im just throwing out some ideas.

I've worked with a 15" XXX before, you need more airspace, and a port. make it 3.5 cubes, and port it deep.

i bought the motor used and had it reconed. The thing is, my amp gains are at 3/4 and its like it's not putting out anything. The sub doesnt move to music. Only to test tones. And its an earthquake ph-d2. Its at least supposed to get warm. U hear stories about how these things get so hot but mine is always cold. And i know its not the amp because i had a mmats d200hc hooked up to it and it did the same thing. How can it play test tones perfectly but not music. I think i give up. Im probably just going to take it in somewhere and have a pro look at it. Any recommendations in the GTA?
