15 xxx not impressing...what could it be?
Ive had this almost Identical setup, and I agree with sassmaster, Bigger box and port the hell outta it!!! I even had the earthquake amp hooked up to it as well
...Now if you had a lancer Id be freakin out right now, lol.!!!!! Def, port the box and make it WAY bigger! 3.0cft + is the way to go

lol peterborough is a little far. I would port it but i dont have the space for that. And that's not really solving the issue. Why is the sub bottoming out off of less than 1600 watts. It should be eating that power up. I think something is driving my amp into clipping and thats where i gotta start looking...too bad its raining today...so far i've only come up with two things to test 1) Voltage when its playing at full tilt. 2) Ground resistance
is there anything else i need to check that could make my amp clip. My head unit has all the settings set to 0 ( No bass boost or anything.)

I think you are on the right track. Try swapping out the amp for a different one to see if that makes a difference. Make sure all your settings are good on the amp too, not just the head unit. What kind of car are you driving that you only have 2.5 ft^3 of sealed box space?

I've worked with a 15" XXX before, you need more airspace, and a port. make it 3.5 cubes, and port it deep.

Your dumb, every try thinking this guy can't afford to drive a 10,000watt amplifier into one single sub?...or do you think every-one can afford a $1000 High power alternator?
I would first remove the sub from the box immediatly(possibly with box if possible)...bring it in the house and hook it up to your home theatre set-up, and see if it still makes that noise...if it does ...then there is somthing wrong with the sub, and needs to be inspected by whome ever re-coned it...this should quickly solve your problem instead of testing out your entire system un-nesecarily. If the sub sounds normal...then check all your processors and connections and settings etc.

Aside from that, I know the guys at perfect tones somewhat, and I know that they do very good work, and I trust their recones implicitly, that said, anyone can make a mistake, and that includes the person who assembled the recone.
this is what I've done with a 15" XXX, what have you done?

before you call someone dumb, make sure that you have a clue first.
it seems as though it was a combination of things. I took it to a buddy's house and connected it to his HU but still used my amp. Sounded much better. I'm thinking maybe my HU and its low preout voltage allowed for too much noise to be picked up and amplified. He has 4v outputs off an alpine and it sounded much louder and clearer. The other problem was that my voltage wasnt as stable as his so maybe thats what drove the amp into clipping. And the third thing was that the subsonic filter inside the Earthquake was switched on. I did not know they had a switch inside the amp. With that switched off, output was increased. Thanks all for you help. I need to get a better HU

What have I done?... I've got Veritas Horn bodies in a completely stealth install.
If your head unit is the cause then you should replace it with one that puts out more volts, it definatly gets louder with more juice going into t he amp...supply and demand is a big problem with-out much gain overlap at the amps input.
