1997 Tercel Deck Install

Hey all, buddy of mine wants me too install a deck in his 97 Toyota Tercel. I found some instructions on the net but they involve "prying" off the trim panel. I dont know how I feel about "prying" anything. So if anyone knows how to remove the factory deck, any help would be greatly appreciated.

I just replaced a radio on a 99 last weekend and IIRC they are the same..
There is a trim panel around the deck and pocket - and yes you have to pry or pull it off. No screws, just pull firmly until it comes free. IMO it is easier to pull from the inside of the trim ring than the outside.
After that it's 4 obvious screws to take out the deck and pocket, 4 more to pull out the deck and then reverse everything to put it back.
One of the easiest Toyotas out there.
