2003 Chevy Silverado Reg Cab Install?
#11
holy $#@% guys,
i spent a couple hours last night, and a couple hours today, Ive run the all the power wires, the 4ga amp cable, split it for two amps behind the seats, run 3 RCA cables (front/rear speakers, and sub), run the video for back up cam, amplifier trigger wire, camera trigger wire, and my USB/wireless adapter.I also ran a usb wire to the glovebox for a 1TB laptop hardrive for tunes and video ;-).... all i need is my 4 channel amp now, and the front rear speakers. bugger is, the antenna wire fell in somewhere in the dash, i couldnt find it, had to give up to pick my son up at school....
ill get everything done, then ill find the wire and put a 12" extension on it so its easier to work with.... once i get the 4 ch amp installed, and the speakers, and camera, ill clean all the wires up and reinstall all the panels, and it will all be hidden and look slick!
one thing i know, ill prolly never do another install like this again, if i ever build another system like this, ill pay someone else to do it. my back is screwed, and my knee's are shot.... this kinda stuff is too hard on an 'ol guy like me ;-)
GiNNz!

you bet. and its the kind of thing i like doing, its just that i cant physically take the laying on my back trying to get under the dash, and all the cramped cab work! my body is just too beat up for this gig... oh well, almost done! i picked up a 4 channel amp yesterday, but i may just regret it... its only 75 watts per channel @ 2 ohm..... i should have got something bigger ;-) oh well, ill see how it sounds, if it sounds good, ill keep it!

got it all done, turns out the headunit is faulty, no signal out of 3 channels, only the front 2 channels work, rear channels and sub channel doesn't work. this is using low level (RCA)....
i havnt tried using high level (speaker wire) output. i really dont want to anyways, as its alot better using RCA to amp(s)
well i guess ill see if they will exchange it. i got it from MP3Playerstore.com

well, they still havnt got back to me..... ;-(
so today i tried high level output to my 4 channel amp, and it works.... sounds awesome with the infinity speakers! now im just having trouble getting the BassLinkT working! I get a blue light on it (power), but no sound! im going with high level output to it as well....
if they get back to me this week, ill prolly still exchange it, as i want to use the pre-amp outputs (RCA's).... i dont really want to run a bunch more wires, and all the rca's are run already. with my luck though, they'll send another, and the rca's will work, but the gps won't, or something like that!
in the manual, it shows the +/- wires spliced from the rear speakers, but because my 4 channel amp is right beside the basslinkT, i just ran wires directly from channel 3/4 of the amp (rear speaker outputs), this should work exactly the same, no?
i bought the BasslinkT used, and im afraid i got shafted.....
jeex, im having bad luck on my first real stereo build! first my headunit has bad pre-amp outputs, and now it looks like my powered sub is no good.... retarded.

i wasnt using high level at first, just the RCA's, only the front channels worked out of the headunit, the rear, and sub did nothing.
then i tried the high level, and they all work.....
i emailed the guy i bought the sub from, he claimed it worked fine, so i'll re-check everything on it again, maybe the ground isnt good ? ill be rewiring up this evening to hopefully finish the most of it, then its just the rear camera to install.....
