Question 2006 Chevy Montana SV6 - Dash Kit/Harnesses needed?

A friend wants me to swap a 12" enclosure and amp from his Altima into his 06' Chevy Montana. Just curious aside from dash kit and wiring harness (standard install stuff) are there any additional harnesses required ? Don't want to pull it all apart and realize I need an additional harness to bypass/disable any factory options for aftermarket unit to operate correctly

Is it factory Bose or OnStar? I assume the amp and woofer arent the only thing going in... You're doing a deck as well?

The harness will depend 100% on if it is Onstar or Bose and even if it is neither it is still a data retention harness that is going to equal some rather unexpected $$$$.

That was my initial reaction, so I assume there is a deck going in as well. OP, where you at? We need answers!

Hey guys , I dont get updates anymore via email about the page sorry for the response delay. I'm pretty sure he has Onstar but its not activated. As for weather or not he has factory bose installed is unknown. I just fired him a text hoping for reply soon. And yes, I do have double din dash kit and an alpine deck to be installed. Possible Gps nav to follow up with at later date, assuming this wont require a whole new set of harnesses/connectors.

Edit: Confirmed, he does have Onstar (not activated) and believes it is factory stereo (not upgraded). Whats the best way to check besides pulling door panels etc. Any specific Vin Id's to check ?

You could run a wire from the fuse panel for your accessory and a standard wiring harness to wire up the deck. If you want to retain OnStar, that's when a module will come in. If it's Bose, it will be labelled on the speaker grills.

Does Onstar use factroy speakers to communicate with ? Just curious, because if I were to run a new 12v supply/harness to new deck I would have to disconnect speakers from factory harness and supplly them from my new harness/headunit. The whole reason I am adding the deck is just for the sub output. Unless there is a much easier way to get the signal to the amp input (rca). I recall quite some time back , a buddy tapping into his rear speakers in his grand prix to get input for his sub amp, his setup had screw down terminals tho, so rca was unnecessary (must have been old ) lol

A line out converter will tap into rear speakers and give an RCA out
