PLEASE HELP!
i haven't done much speaker doctoring before, and i don't know where to start. i bought a pair of a/d/s compontents from this guy off the board, and he said they were just sitting for a long time.
when they were shipped, the magnet from one punctured the cone on the other and the dust cap came off too. the cone is cracked all the way from top to bottom and where it connects to the coil, it's starting to come unglued...
i don't really know how serious of a problem this is, but it looks to me like it could be fixed with a little more glue and maybe some patch work on the cone, but i don't know how much it would affect the sound.
if this is the kind of thing that is usually professionaly repaired are there local shops that would do it? or do i have to send it away? how much would it cost? (trying to stay as cheap as possible, but still have good sq from speaker)
should i try doing it myself?

IMO it's trash but if you want to play with it...
How I would go about fixing it would be to put a strip of clear packing tape on the front of the cone over the crack. Then I would run a bead of thick CA along the back of the crack and spray with the kicker to set it.
Next I would run a bead of the same CA around the cone-to-coil joint where it is separating and spray it to set it.
Finally, a run around the edge of the dustcap with the same CA or some E6000 or Shoo-Goo adhesive and put it in place.
Thick CA and kicker:
Get it at LeeValley or House of Tools.
E6000
Get it at Michaels or other craft stores. Shoo-goo is at CanTire, Rona, HD, Walmart...
