6x9 enclosures
I'm just getting started into this, so forgive me if my n00b colours start showing.
We all know about the many variables to making a box for a subwoofer, but what about 6x9s? I figure they're getting pretty big enough to be able to use their own box. Only problem is, they don't have the same parameters on them as subs, so I don't have a clue how to build one.

I'm not sure how the box should be structured. But I really don't think that placing them in the back of the car or in a box or wherever is going to make a gigantic difference. (Someone correct me if I'm wrong) I see a lot of the ghetto kids around here driving around with the 6x9's in their back windows in boxes, and I always think "Why the hell don't they put them where they belong or put the right size speakers in their car so they don't have to have those big ugly thngs in the back windows?" lol But if you really want to box them up I don't think there is going to be huge sound differences in which type of box you build or how big you build it. It might but I really doubt you'll notice a big sound quality difference or anything like that.
look in my profile and you will see 6x9 boxes, they came with the car. I was able to fit aftermarket speakers in them no problem. Only downside is they prevented me from putting 12" subs in the trunk easily.
Placing them in boxes gives them a definite airspace to work with. This way the speaker can't move as freely because there is more air resistance on it. But that is a good think, because it greatly cuts down on unintentional movement, and allows you to feed them more power.
With the 6x9s running free, you can easily over exert them by feeding them power within their power rating. While in a box, they are much more controlled and less likely to go out of control damaging themselves etc.
Just make something small, no bigger then 1/3 of a cube.
