6x9's sound like

what the f*** the 4 - 6x9's that are in this car sounded great when they were hooked to a low powered 2 channel amp and now that they are hooked to seperate channels on a bigger amp I can't seem to get them to sound good at all.
Why would this be??? the lowest power these 6x9's are rated at is 120 watts (clarion) and the other pair can handle 160 watts (alpine type r).

Any chance that one 6x9" is wired out of phase, that will make a set of speaker sound like a$$ real quick. It also sounds like you are looking at the peak power ratings of the speakers instead of the rms power handling, might want to check that out as well. Not a good idea to overpower a speaker of any type for any length of time. What amp are you using on them?

figured it out....the older clarions just couldn't handle being hooked to a better amp and they died
off to the store to spend more money for my friend.

ugh, really? why?

If he's yer buddy you should be convincing him to spend that cash on better front speakers than more back ones.

becouse he wanted an old school set up so we put in 4 6x9's in the back and 2 4" pioneer's up front....that is what the customer wanted ...that and i told him that there was no way that i was going to cut into the really nice upholstered doors on this car.

Job is now done and the customer (a friend) is extreemly happy.
In the end isn't that what counts???

Exclamation

^ In my opinion, no.

Some ideas are dumb and need to be recognized as such. Running solely rear stage is not "old school" it's moronic.

Do you have any idea how much I loved car audio before I new what staging and imaging were ? Back when I could just jam , now all I listen for are flaws in the system . I don't really get into the music anymore I just listen for different ways to make it sound better .

In my opinion ovalk speakers in general suck ! and if anyone dissagrees explain why and not just because they fit in the stock locations anything can be alters with minimal effort ... Let me hear the voices of many . And I will fill my nex car with 30 pair of 6.9 mid bass drivers that is if the arguments are buyable..
you who know me Know I will do it and you also know im gonna make them all smoke the first comp that therre in. yours truly Dan Camp..
