8 Ohm Coils or 4 Ohm Coils? Need Some Help.
Hey guys I got a quick question I've got a Pioneer IMPP 12" subwoofer (TS-W1241DVC)
The link to this on the pioneer website is http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/PUSA/Products/CarAudioVideo/Subwoofers/Champion-Pro/TS-W1241DVC?tab=B so you can look at the specifications, they say that it's 2Ohm or 8Ohm Rated. However on http://www.shopping.com/xPO-Pioneer-TS-W1241DVC#keyFeaturesArea this website say's its a 8 ohm (Dual Coil) Now does that mean each coil is 8 ohms or that each coil is 4 ohms. Basically I'm trying to wire it up to a 2-channel amplifier which is only stable at 4 ohms and am checking out a couple different wiring options. Any additional clarification on this would be great. Thanks. |
dual 4 ohm bro, not right for your amp. Look for a dual 2 ohm or single 4ohm sub.

Additionally if anyone know's what is the min air space behind the subwoofer should I have?
For instance I am in the design process of the subwoofer box but in my truck I need to angle the subwoofer in the front of the box so that it will fit comfortably in the truck while maintaining a 1-1.4 cubic feet of air space but I only have 10" width to work with so I need to angle the subwoofer so that it has plenty of room in front of it. However if I do this the room in the box behind the woofer will be minimal, the air space will be correct but I'm wondering how it will effect the quality of the sound. |

Basically I'm using this free crap to test what would work the best in my truck 2003 dodge dakota single cab, I'm building a center console box for it but there is very limited space. I should go with 2 10" woofers but I would just like to keep the one 12", this would be my third re-structuring of the subwoofer box itself. But like I said I would rather destroy the free subwoofer and amplifier testing different designs before I go out and purchase the correct amplifier and woofer, well not the woofer I've got lots of these old 12" IMPPs to play around with. |
