Waaaaaaay too much wiring to bother with, and the relocation harness is too long and too hard to try and tuck under the dash, as it is supposed to relocate the deck to the trunk (a silly and dangerous idea). Also, if it's a Sunfire, a double din looks near factory in the dash so looks def get trumped there

Remove the deck. If it works, sell it to someone who needs to just replace the factory one and doesn't want aftermarket. You'll save them money and make some of your own

I always keep the stocker...I am always glad I do when it comes time to get a new car, I don't have to give away the nice deck with the beater.

No, you don't NEED it, but like AAAAAA mentioned, it may be a good idea to hang onto it for later.

Yep. I don't know which GM it is, but if you use the bestkits site I mentioned earlier the part # for most GM's is BHA1858. Metraonline has the same thing, just a different part number.

Yeah, it is Plus, if the module dies you lose that acc... And the one I had in my GM actually drained the batt if I didn't drive the car for over a day. A wire to the fuse panel is always reliable, it's just a bit of extra work

Yuli to answer your questions.

Back before modules were availible or popular there was a harness to relocate your deck into the trunk or under a seat or hidden somewhere as to retain your chimes and diagnostics. They are cumbersome and a pain to hide deck somewhere in most vehicles.

As for a module if its a non Bose\Onstar you can get a Schoshe module at Walmart for $40 and with Bose\Onstar I think they are $50-60 there also.

The module keeps you door chime and gives you a 12v switched for the aftermarket deck. Also on some higher end Gm`s I have seen other things act a bit scetchy at times if you try to bypass without a module.

Thats my .02

Ps. not all 99up Gm`s need a module easy test is if the door chime is heard through the speakers you need module if its not through speakers you prob don`t need a module.

Hope this helps

Garett

all you need is the aftermarket wiring harness (scosche gm02) (metra 70-1858) it has the ignition lead on it there is no need for any data interface whatsoever, you just need your dash kit and antenna adapter to make the install complete, or hardwire it then you don't need the harness, whatever your customer prefers.

Grab a DMM and test the GM acc turn on wire - if it's giving you less than 12v you will need to run a wire to either radio/wiper fuse in fuse panel and you will be switched with the key... No one else has mentioned but I have seen the loss of headlight chimes, which is okay for the driver, but lend the car out and watch that battery die!
