Adding batteries to a system.

1) Can I just wire a second (deep cycle) battery in parallel with my stock battery under the hood or will they charge at different rates and screw up everything?

2) What IS the best way to add extra batteries in the trunk?

3) Can I add additional batteries in the trunk that are not the same as the one under my hood?

4) If I have to, can I run a second wire from my alt to the back of my car where the additional batteries are?

SETUP:

Stock 550CCA battery under the hood
200 amp alternator
2 deep cycle batteries in the trunk

Thanks.

if the batts are different from each other, get a battery isolator, if they are the same model and have about the same use on them, just wire it up.

I'm trying to avoid an isolator... are they expensive?

Also, how do I find the right size isolator for my needs?

Do you think that instead of the Deka's, I could replace my stock batt with an Odyssey PC1400 (which will fit) and add a second PC1400 in the trunk? Will this be enough?

enough for what?...we hav no idea what you plan to do or run in the way of equipment.

I'm running about 1800 watts on stock battery and 120amp alty without any problems whatsoever.....

Unless you plan to run your system with engines off for a prolong period of time. I see no reason to go more than 1 batt. Since you will have a 200amp alternator. But yeah, what are you trying to achieve/fix with 2 batts?
