alarm question

k so i have an alarm sittin here from my last car, and ive got 2 "2nd place prizes" from 2 different shops here in town for a free alarm, now im wondering, since i know that said free alarms are basically a shock sensor and a dome light sensor, now, with the old alarm i got a glass sensor, can i use the same glass sensor if i get a new alarm? or will they not be compatible? lemme know, cus i dont wanna have to pay another $100 for a new glass sensor if i dont need too...
also, i heard somewhere that remote starters will void a cars warranty? anyone know if this is true or BS? thanks

If the glass sensor you have has 3 or 4 wires on it then it can be added to any alarm. As Haunz mentioned they may need to diode isolate it along with another sensor but that's minor.
The responsibility is on the manufacturer to prove whether the part you added to a car caused any failure on the car. Adding a starter does not automatically void warranty.

i got a "free" alarm and "free" car starter from quinn, (thats where i had my last alarm installed in the sunbird (same deal)
i also got one from the car salon,
not a fan of quinn's work? ive heard a story of them accidently putting a hammer thru a cars window and saying it was like that when it was brought in.....the car was just off the lot new....

yea they did an ok job on my last alarm.... the install wasnt as "pretty" as i woulda done it... rather then something smart like zip ties... they just went crazy with the electrical tape to keep the wires together.... more then likely ill go with the car salon one, same price basically for the install, and they seem like an ok group of guys...

A free alarm is a free alarm.. you get what you pay for.. if the install is crap, you can always go and redo it yourself [img]smile.gif[/img] why not eh, it's free [img]smile.gif[/img] A free alarm is still better than no alarm at all [img]smile.gif[/img]
