First off, trying to install my first system!

I have:

Alpine cda-9833
Toyota camry 1993 LE

My problem:

I have a positive and negitive dimmer/illumination leads on my camry wiring harness, but only one illumination/dimmer wire on my Alpine wiring harness. In addition the single wire on the Alpine harness has a really wired end on it.

Pics:

1. Picture showing + and - wires on toyota harness and the one wire on the Alpine wiring harness.

2. Shows the odd end on the wire of the Alpine harness.

3. Bad picture of manual, but you can still make out the words without too much trouble.

Any help would be much appreciated! I have Alpine type R's waiting to go into the front and Type S' waiting to go into the back once I get my deck finished.

If you need any more info please ask and I will take as many pictures and try to give whatever info I know ( ) about the harness' and the car.

Thank you very much!

I have yet to install a deck where I actually hooked up the dimmer to it. I have heard that it can cause problems, I would not hook it up. Anyone else?

What does a dimmer do? From my very limited understanding it lights up the deck, but since you haven't used one it seems like it doesn't.

The dimmer wire is there, so that when you turn down your interior dashboard lights, the deck lights fade also. The deck does not need to have the dimmer wire hooked up for the display to work. That is what the full time and ignition power is for. I have never used the dimmer wire...

To me that sounds like a pretty cool option. From this thread: http://forums.anandtech.com/messagev...&enterthread=y

it seems like I can just attach the orange wire's and ignore the orange/black wire.

The car is still at a buddy's house getting new shocks and struts. I am getting the car back hopefully tonight and I'll solder the wires and install it. If I don't post tonight then the car isn't done
