Hi, what's an alternative for vinyl for covering kick pods? I'm thinking bed liner or texture paint? I want it to be black. If you could tell me a specific brand that you have used with success that would be great. Thanks

If your planning on painting, make sure you spend lots of time sanding. Bumpy, lumpy painted kicks suck. But Sem-paint makes a good texture paint. I suppose it would look ok, but I am still partial to vinyl.

if you have a gray interrior, try painting them with exterminator from GCA, it looks good, covers well and lasts a long time.

Leather

Box carpeting works not bad if your carpet is grey; cheap too.

Other than that, rubberized dip that toolmakers dip handles in

The bed liner (polyurea) would make a fine coating but make sure to mask it well because it is a high build coating, should have some flexibility in it after coating

Powder coating is super stuff, it can be thick or thin, not too flexible once coated and the heat bonding could damage the build

You could stealth it with carpet

As discussed good old spray paint (I have several junk yard parts from a burgundy car in my all black car and they mate perfectly thanks to polykote)

Seems like every alternative to vinyl (apart from ghetto style stuff) costs mucho moolah.

tweed is easy, cheap and looks pretty good.

I have a gun that sprays "perfect seude" for all you old school types...

^ Perfect Suede is the bomb! I like to use it here and there just for something different. I wouldn't use it on a kickpanel though..

I think tweed would be cool. Shouldn't be too hard to work with. But I personally like to match kicks with the carpet on the floor.
