amp kit dilemma
amp kit dilemma
can I use a double amp kit and cap for just one amp? I know it sounds odd but I know I am getting my second amp for my birthday in just under 2 months so I went with the double amp and cap kit I really don’t want to wait to hook up my subs and amp until I get it but im not sure if I can leave out some of the wiring until later. Plus my amp rack is made to house the cap power plant and distro blocks aswell so id like to use them...

Would it be ok to hook it up leaving out the red ones and second amp or would i be better to grab an inline fuse holder?
any help would be apreciated

I am just wiring and installing another amp to an existing amp setup. After cruising around the forums a fused dristrubution block seemed the way to go. The blocks come in all configurations. I am getting a single 0/4 in, 2 x 4/8 out, with a voltage meter for about $30 on eBay. I am pulling out my existing 8 from the battery, replacing with a 4 ga. and then going 4 ga. to one amp and possibly 8 ga. to the other amp. After looking at the 0 ga. for possible future expansion, it looked to big and scary, would sooner go with parallel runs of 4 ga. easier to route. You can get them to run parallel runs in.
Kits are good, but you can ensure you get what you want by building it up yourself. Take a jaunt to your local stereo shop and they'll be more than happy to set you up with exactly what you need, nothing more.
Then you'll be happy that you know you got what you wanted!
