Amp Kit Size
 

Hey all,

I have 2 amps
- Alpine PDX.1 - 600 Watt
- Alpine PDX.4 - 150 watt per channel (Will bridge to 300 watts to 2 channels)


My question is, what size amp kit should I get. I was thinking a 4 awg from battery to distribution block, then 8 awg to each amp.

Will this be to small for 1200 watts?

4 awg is good for 150 amps over the length of most cars, just keep the distro block close to the amps as possible to keep the 8 awg as short as possible, however if you can afford to do 1/0 id go for it, knukonceptz sells a dual amp kit for like 115 usd plus shipping, they also make awesome rca cables, only took about four days for my kit to come in the mail, no duties or extra taxes

The fuses in the actual amps are a total of 140 amps, so a 4 awg wire kit will be fine then?

long as you get good quality cable thats 100% oxygen free copper, its rated at 150 amps over a 20 foot distance, the run i have in my car is 15 feet long and i havnt had a problem yet, make sure you fuse it close to the battery just incase cuz if you do end up pulling more current than the wire can handle the fuse will save you burning your car down, but you are basically at max current, if you havnt bought anything yet then id say go for the largest wire you can afford, cuz in the end it will only help your system run better and leave room for future upgrades like a second 600.1

200A fuse for the 1/0 and then 150A and 50A for the two amps being used. You'll never have to upgrade your wiring again

yeah man they have amazing deals and its really good quality stuff, their wire is also SUPER flexible so easy to work with, ive been using it for about three years, they just changed their shipping to ups with prepaid duties and taxes so its basically like half the price of buying local, not that i dont support my one local shop just theres not much selection, they didnt even have 4 awg ring terminals last time i went in

Back in the day, Knukonceptz was the best kept secret in car audio. I still have about 5 feet of their old school duel colored wiring, silver and brown...

They have now blown up and are always advertised in PAS and other magazines

The alpine amps are already fuses as they are. Why do you need a fuse at the distribution block and on the amps themselves?

I can understand fusing at the battery but at the distro block?

I already have a kicker amp kit installed, however, the 1/0 wire was stollen and all I really need is to replace that.
