amp says i need 8awg, will 4awg fit?

hey im new to car audio and im looking at a rockford p300.1 amp to power an older rockford 400w rms dvc 12" sub.
i picked up a 4awg wiring kit and the amp says it 'needs an 8awg power and ground'.
will the 4awg work, will it fit in the terminals??
thanks!
