Hey I got static and crap from one of my XTant 1.1i's. I swapped everything over one at a time, of course, to the other amp. Sure enough, it wasn't the RCA signal cable, speaker, power/ground/remote, or speaker wire. The amp was simply toast. That's what you get when you buy used off ebay. Actually, I bought it from a CCA member who, in turn, bought it off eBay. Not anyone's fault. It was working perfectly for two or three weeks and one day, crackle, crackle, hiss, pop, tick, tick. The amp is in for repair (costly). I could have got it brand new with full warranty for a tad more. Oh well, live and learn. Could always be worse, right Aaron? BTW, did he get disconnected? or did he leave because of all the harrassment he got on here.

Actually you were infering that I must be wrong because (according to you) there is no difference between chassis and signal ground...

As I said, Ive seen subs/speakers that 'thumped' in and out more then once, and that was the problem... as such, I advised that he check that out...

I dont think its unreasonable to suggest that a used amp sent though the mail may have had its RCA inputs banged around a little either...

Hey
I repaired an amp that was having the same issue - before removing it from the car I found the ground to the chassis was loose. It ended up using the common of the RCA's as the current path for the short period until one of the traces evaporated.
Do the discman thing JohnVroom suggested, it would eliminate a ground loop if the crackling goes away. If it doesn't, the amps front end most likely needs to be repaired.
Good Luck, J
