any1 knows how to mod amp?
Hi im new to this but i have the amplifier of mtx thunder 81000D, im wondering if anyone knows about modding up in 1ohm cause i have the audiobahn subwoofer is awisd15 that power 2000wRms and it had dual 2ohm, it only operates as 1 or 4ohm only. Thats the reasons so im looking for anyone from GTA of Toronto area, and tell me the costs for to mod the amp, thank you very much. Hoping to hear any good news from any of you.

I might be way off on this subject, but even if yuo were able to get it to opperate at 1 ohm, it wouldn't be stable by any means. there are many parts, and electronic circuits in the amplifier that contribut to how stable the amp is under a huge load, so you would probably be better off getting an amp that mates well with the subs you have, or replacing the subs to mate well with your amp...
but thats just my opinion, I'm not an electrical engineer, so I could be mistaken.

i`m not an expert in that field either but what you are planning sounds expensive. i`m not sure how you can alter an amp to make it 1ohm stable, but if it is possible, i think its gonna cost you. maybe you should look into a new 1 ohm stable amp, perhaps used. those amps can get pricy.

To Bigman: how are you messuring the meter on coil? Well mine sub is dual 2ohm so the operation only requires 1 or 4ohm. Instead of this amplifier takes 2 or 4ohm, however would you accepted that amp has 500watts in 4ohm to subwoofer that has maximum rms of 2000watts? or prefer more rms power from amp to subwoofer? I hardly to find who else has amplifier such as audiobahn or else, but i got this amplifier to sell though. 275$ or trade in. thank u for replyin it.
You don't need to physically mod the amp. There should be a little pin hole somewhere that has a button behind it. Use a needle or whatever to change the position of the button, and protection is off. Remember that you can blow the amp pretty easy now if you dead short it or anything like that.
