Few weeks ago bought a pair of Alpine Type R 12"
2ohm+2ohm subs.. just got a Audison SRx2S AMP its 2 Channel 300wx2 at 2ohm.. so figured that would be good but when it was hook up 2ohm mono it blew the fuse in the amp within 20 mins... why did this happen? so then the place wired it up 4ohm stereo? what difference does this make?
payed a decent chunk was hoping id get nice setup but now i dunno if i got what i payed for.. or just some jigger rigged thing? my windows arent exploding thats for sure

Running an amp in 2 ohm mono is the same as running it at 1 ohm stereo. The amp isn't 1 ohm stereo stable, neither is it in 2 ohm mono. Only in 2 ohm stereo. Hope this helps.

That's the beauty of a fuse - just prevented you from making a BBQ of that amp.

Yup, what chadxton said is right. If something is 2 ohm stable in stereo mode it is only 4 ohm stable mono. Hmm how to explain this. . .
When bridging, the current from the left side is combined with the current from the right side so they are acting together. The right side can handle 2ohm on its own, now it is acting as the + on the amp -> still able to run at 2 ohm "pushing" the current. While the left side can also handle running at 2ohm on its own. But now it is only acting as the - on the amp -> still able to run at 2ohm but it is running 2 ohm "pulling" the current. So being safe to push 2ohm and pull 2ohm adds up to a final load of 4ohm - kind of like when you put two 2ohm speakers in series. I hope this makes sense.

You may have been better off with the MRD500 because it is a mono block and will push 500W into a 2 ohm load, that way each sub will get 250. While you current setup, if it pushes 300x2 @2ohm, my guess is that it will push somewhere around 150 @ 4ohm stereo so each sub will only get 150 each.
