Battery Keeps Dieing
okay this is what i did, i just disconnected the cap negative terminal to see what kind of draw there would be. well i found it to be about 450micro Amps so thats pretty low, then i disconnected the amp from the cap and hooked the negative back up and it was drawing 0Amps. I also noticed when i was back there in my trunk my one ring terminal attached to the cap was loose as in the guy who installed it did not solder that one in place but all the other ones were soldered, so could this be my problem or is it my cap? looking to get some new ring and spade terminals and then going to solder them myself.
thanks
thanks
Cap has nothing to do with it. Whoever tested your battery is clueless. It is no longer keeping full charge. Time for a Yellow Top, and you can abuse that thing in every position you like and it will take it and love it.
I just went through this, mine was caused by a faulty capacitor. went from having a new battery which would last hours playing...to something that would die over night. Reason being capcitor was faulty and was causing a voltage leak, took the cap out, and a new battery later i'm back to normal...i'm at the point were i hate caps...just a band aid anyways.
Come on, if you people play your system off the battery for hours, you're killing it, and it will never go back to holding full charge. The only battery that can be used in such application is deep cycle. By design a regular battery is not meant to be used like you guys are using it. With deep cycle you can have all the leaks you want and it will still be as new after years. You're blaming caps for no reason whatsoever. Cap or no cap, if you keep doing what you're doing, you'll keep getting the same result. You need a deep cycle battery, or keep buying new ones time after time. Your leaks, if any are caused by equipment needing it for whatever reason like alarms and some are real hogs, and amps not turning off cause of incorrect install, etc. A cap is not one of those appliances and will not just "eat" your energy when it's full, and where do you think that cap is disposing of it's "stolen" energy. Come on! You've been listening to some bad intel. I guarantee if you get a Yellow Top or similar design battery, you'll have no more problems, and you'll fall in love with your cap all over again, cause you've used it in the capacity of a scapegoat.
