Best place to route Power wire to Battery?

Where the hell does one drill a hole through the firewall of a Mazda Protege 5 to get the power wire to the battery?? I've looked and looked on the drive side AND passenger side to try to get my power wire to the engine compartment, but everywhere I look there's fuse boxes, hvac, I PILE of wires and sensors (where the glove box is), etc... My last car was a Chrysler Sebring and had TONS of room. Simple install.

So question is what do you guys do with compact cars?

its a 2002. I've somewhat located a grommet but its going into a void where the struts and shocks are. It looks like I'd have to take the front left wheel off and a few plastic panels in the wheel well and check where some of the existing electronics are running.

There's got to be an easier way.
