okay i think the only part i'm not a 100% on is the cable from the alternator to the battery so your going from your positive post to the positive post on the alternator? is that all you have to do. Then the rest of the big three is just grounding the battery to the chassis with bigger gauge cable i already have 4 gauge running from the battery to the cap and ampt the 4 gauger to the frame.

1. Positive battery power line going to alternator.
2. Ground from battery to engine
3. ground from battery to chassis

it has nothing to do with any existing aftermarket wiring kit. its the replacment of stock wiring in the engine bay.

make sure you use wiring AT LEAST as big as your wiring kit, and planning for upgrades in the future...bigger is better for the most part.

I actually just did my big 3 yesterday after a year of procrastination since the alternator is a pain in the *** to get to in my car. i can only access it from underneath and it joins at a point shared with the starter and its just a pain:P

i can say though, the upgrade will make a difference. I already had a second battery, 50 farad cap and nice wiring kit and extremely efficient amps. so i think the change would be more significant on a car that doesn't have that...i completly forgot to propely measure it, but using the cap reading as a reference point, my voltage level jump 0.58V. for next to no money spent, its well worth it in my opinion....especially in a smaller car w/ stock alternator

well mine is a big truck with the v8 hemi so the alternator is nice and easy to get too, i knew it had nothing to do with the wiring to the amp just wanted to say exactlly what i have incase it made a difference. I'm proally going to do it with some red 1/0 welding cable i have for monatary reasons lol. Nice and cheap, why do you ground to the engine also???

I have a 91 Chev 1500 Z71.. With twin alts and every time I add a piece of wire to my charging system I go up a little bit... I also got .5V just by linking my batts direct Pos to Pos and Neg to Neg...

Ok now I have a question... Would it be beneficial to run a charging line from each Batt to each Alt if you are running twin alts??

in theory it makes sense right two alts, two battery's it would be like two trucks with single alternators and single batteries with the big three done and you connected them with jumper cables nothing would be harmed or anything...so it would be the same thing under your hood right?
