box size??
ok I built a custom fiberglass box in my wheelwell
to hold a 10 W3v2 on a JL 250/1
It's hard to measure but this is what I came up with
I sorta divided it it to 2 boxes because of the shape
15x16x9 + 9x8x4 (inside measurements)
for a total of 1.416 cubic feet (is that right?)
from JL's site they say to build a box
18x11x9
total of .625 cubic feet
so is my box way too big for the one sub?
what can I do?

If you want a more accurate measurement, you can pick up a bunch of packing popcorn, and measure it out. There are 28.32 litres in a cubic foot, so measure out the popcorn and keep track of it until you get your total. Is this the dual 4 version? Running it at 2 ohms? If so, I ran it through Bassbox, 1.4 cubes sealed, with a little bit of polyfill stuffed in there should give you a Qtc of .7, which is fairly flat, should sound decent. You should be able to port that, tune it around 30hz, and get decent response. Hope that helps a bit.
its dual 2 ohm running in series 4 ohms (but I dont think it matters for the JL amp)
port? I would like to hear how it would sounds, but there is no coming back after you drill a big hole in it
I think I like the tighter bass that comes with a sealed

Its definitly a preference in what type of music you listen to as to have a ported or sealed enclosure..
If you listen to a lot of rock and roll or most of Top 40 or anything which has alot of drum beat to it.. then Sealed is the way to go.
If you listen to alot of r&b/hiphop or Rap, then I would go ported..
Just re glass over the hole if you don't like the sounds of it ported.

I loaded it with a bunch of (I dont know what to call it) its like a soft foam pad kinda in the shape of the inside of an Egg carton and sounds pretty good
how much should the sub move?
I never really had a seald box, I allways had banpass because trunk space was never a concern
