The ideal enclosure for these mids would have been .85 liters. These pods are .8 liters. With a little stuffing, the response will be about as good as it gets for this 4". But yes they are big. This was known well before the build began.

But for the record, my Scans were in a much smaller cabinet, and work perfectly.

 

area of a CIRCLE (not semi-circle) is 3.14x radius squared but volume of a sphere is 4/3 x 3.14x radius cubed

for a volume of .85L you need 52 cubic inches SO
52=4/3x 3.14 x r cubed therefore r cubed approx=12.5 SO
r is approx=2.28" BUT you cut off a section so I would SWAG the required r to be 2.6" or a 5" or so inside diameter... BIG ball

 

the o.d. is 6" or so, walls are about 1/4" to 3/8".

I just filled the ball with water to confirm my math.

The ball can hold .77 liters of water. So I would say my .8 was pretty damn close.
