OK, I have a Power Acoustic DVD player that comes with a digital out. The connection is a 3.5mm mono jack (from the looks of it). If I had a deck with coax digital input (looks like an RCA jack), can the two be hooked up? I'm assuming since it is a digital signal, the left and right channel info travels on this one cable and goes directly into the DA converter of a deck with this type of connector.

Next question - can I get a normal 3.5mm mono to mono rca cable to work or do I have to get a specialized cable?

Most digital cables are special cables, in fact they are closer to a video cable then a audio cable, usually a 75ohm end on them.

I've never seen a digital cable with mini plug to coax. I hope they're easy to find.

D'ya think I can go with RCA to RCA coax and get a plain rca to mini plug adapter for one end?

I would imagine it would be negative (ground) and signal - I don't want to fry anything.

Manual points out that it is indeed a digital out. But that's all it says.

I e-mailed Power Accoustik's tech support just now......

You can get a regular "Digital Co-Ax" cable with RCA on both ends, and using an adaptor from Radio Shack that will convert RCA to MINI 3.5mm Mono plug , 'et voila !
RG6 type Cable wire works too, but not very bendable.
