Can i run 2 tweeters on 1 cross-over?
Can i run 2 tweeters on 1 cross-over?
Hey guys,
I am running a pair of pheonix gold rsd6's (mids + tweets) in the front doors with the x-overs mounted on the doors also.....In the back for rear fill i am running a pair of pheonix gold rsd5's with the x-overs also in the back.....I would like to take the tweeters from the back and install them up with the other tweeters in the front and and wire those tweeters in to the x-overs on the front door so that 4 tweeters will be wired into 2 x-overs. All the components in the rsd6 and rsd5 are identical except for the different woofer sizes. Can this be done without any negative consequences, or should i just move the rear tweets to the front and run the wiring for those back to the x-overs in the back Thanks...

short answer is to run the wires from the rear xovers to the tweeters that you plan to relocate to the front. when you add two tweeters to the same PASSIVE xover, you change the impedence (double or halve it depending on how you wire it) so that your xover will either double or halve the xover frequency that the tweeters play above. both ways will provide inferior results compared to running the wires up front.
