I removed a Pioneer DEH-P3100 CD Car Stereo from one car and put in another, but it now powers up for only abbout 1/2 a second, then shuts off. Is there something in the power system I need to change????

Is the battery charged? Take the deck out and meter the power leads.

If the ground is bad, the deck cannot take in and push out the needed voltage so it will shut down. Check the ground. A second possibility: a crappy fuse either in the car's ACC or 12V + wire that is mostly blown (or a poor connection that won't let much current through)

Double check all of your connections, fuses and grounds.

Crappy connection it is. Thanks for the help.
This unit is now in a Pathfinder which apparently has an amplifier stock. My head unit sounds great when connected directly to a speaker, but through the dash wiring it begins distorting at less than 30% power. Should I just bypass this extra amp and run speaker wire direct to speakers? The only problem there is that I assume there is some kind of crossover since the Pathfinder came stock with seperate tweeters located on the dash and in the roof in the rear.

Got any suggestions?

Do a search here using the words "pathfinder" and "Amp" I know that I saw a topic about this about 3-6 months ago. If I remember correctly, the amp is mounted somewhere behind the rear seat on the passenger side.

Personally, I think by-pass the amp, or get a line converter on your deck's speaker outputs.

As for the cross-over, I don't think it is anything big like you would find on component speakers, I think it simply a capacitor in series with the tweeter - but don't take my word on that, I am only assuming, find out for yourself.

Do a search, if that doesn't help, post a new topic about pathfinder's and amps and you will get the attention of the people who are in the know.

Not sure about a Pathfinder, but with my Camry we had to bypass that factory amp from the hu to the speakers. If you can find the amp, remove the speaker leads from the outlet side, then hook up the hu leads to them.
Like maltchick said, there was just a little cap in line just before the fac tweet for the "crossover" so that should be ok.
