Complete newb to car audio

Hey guys,

I am a complete newb to car audio and new to this forum, and want to get a new system in my car but nothing insane. I have been researching for a while now and have been asking questions all around. I have a 2003 Accord Coupe EX-L all stock systems, sound comes out of $9 paper speakers which are acceptable up to 50% volume as most of you know. The deck is the stock with dual zone climate control and 6cd changer. The problem: I want to hook up a new system (no subwoofer needed, unless its real small) and keep my stock deck. From my limited knowledge, I know the deck has a limiter and an amp would definitely be required. I do not want to install a new deck, its another piece of hardware I will probably only use 1 cd for. I was told I have no pre-amp outs and might need an ext preamp, to an amp then to the system. That thing costs over $1000, not something I wanna dish out. A co-worker told me to maybe check out Oxford car audio or something in Scarborough, they might be able to better advise me about what to do. I read great reviews on the Alpine SPX series and found some component systems on crutchfield.com.

Bottom line: I need to keep the setup as stock as possible, really don't want to exceed a budget of $1000 or so, probably will be paying for the labour. I don't need a system that shakes on the street since its just to ghetto out of an Accord, but I do want something you get clean sound and decent bass (obviously better than stock) that probably is louder than what I have. More of a luxury car feel hahaha.

Please help this n00b!

You will need a couple of things. A proper interface adaptor that is the go between the factory head unit and the (must have) new amplifier. This is the device that takes the factory signal in and creates a signal (rca lines) that the new amp can use. From there, off to the amp, then off to the speakers. I would recommend a small sub for you as it will create tones beyond the capabilities of the main speakers. Nothing huge, a single 10" or 12" is all you need. With your budget it will be easy to make up a package for you. I am still at the shop for another half hour, add me to msn and message me if you like.
