I know, I know... its an impossible request but I want to give you guys a chance to your creative wisdomness across the board.

Here is my topic of discussion: Secure Mounting of Equipment To Be Theft-Proof.

Lets try to keep the smart-*** comments donwn to a minimum as they aren't necessarily going to help the situation.

So what kind of methods have you used in the past to make an install theft resiliant.

Thanx As Always.

you know what to tell you the truth, if someones going to break into my car to steal my deck id want that thing to come out as easily as possible, sounds stupid but i would rather the deck comes out nice and easy rather then them ******* up my dash trying to crobar that **** out, (new deck 3-400$, New dash God knows how much $) as for the amp/speakers use the longrst screws possible so they will be there a while trying to get that **** out maybe you can catch em in that act and throw em a beating. Best thing i have heard though to keep your car from getting hotwired then stripped in a garage somewhere else is to install a remote switch that cuts off power to your fuel pump, stealth the switch somewhere inside your car (under the seat, side consol (be creative) (and dont tell anyone about it) and just flip the switch every time you leave the car. if some one wants your gear bad enough there really isnt anything you can do to stop em...best thing is to slow them down, and have a bat near you at all times.

I like using allen head bolts to secure most things now and then if you want it to take longer add a dab of glue of some kind. Harder to turn, my favorite it locktight

The same way you keep your wheels on your car - special lock nuts.
Anchor your amps and box from the bottom to a trim ring, then anchor the trim ring with the lock nut.

This is going to sound incredibly simple, because it is.

Build peices in with a specific order to fasteners and pieces that forces you to start somewhere secure. For example, have a key piece to the install that is secured to obstruct access to disasembling every other piece. That key piece could be secured with a locking mechanism, or hidden fasteners. Or the key peice could be hidden completely from plain view.

I'm not going to use my car as an example for obvious reasons, but lets just say that there is a sequence that must be followed.

I hope people understand my point as I'm trying to keep my car secure without explaining how it done.

The last install that I did myself I made special metal brackets to bolt to the box and then used stainless pop rivets and poped it to the floor of my trunk. Worked great, until I broke a few drill bits trying to take it all out when it was time for a change!

a good alarm well installed you can also get monitoring through the viper tracking systems now to
next i would say the only thing to do is to go stealth
and don't let anybody know what you have
fancy fastener or not
if they want it they will smash it out and end up doing more damage to your vehicle getting out than it worth
a good alarm well int

In my case for my sub box,, we had to take the baffle off / remove the rubber trim from my trunk / remove the trunk latch, remove the spare tire. Then we 'fished' the box into place under the back deck (20 minutes and 200 profain words later) put the spare tire back in / re the trunk latch and moulding / remove the under padding from the carpet and slide it under the box and last drop the drivers in the box and mount them..

And my amp is mounted to the front of the box which is no where in sight..

aircraft fasteners. Hi-locks... They are sweet. you install the bolt part, put the nut part on... torque it down... at a certain spec the nut torques itself off, leaving a collar on the end of the bolt... only way to take em out is with an allen key and a set of vicegrips or hilock pliers....
