Did anyone do an install on a Genesis Coupe yet?
Guys, the trunk in this thing is pretty small. I am wondering if I will have any luck installing these following items. I do not do installs, and this may require some crafty work. I want a nice clean install, and willing to dedicate entire trunk, however, weight needs to be kept to a minimum as possible, mainly cause I dont want the rear to sag to badly. And I am not made of money is another factor. Using a factory deck with OEM integration processor.
1. JBL MS-8(looking for ideas on placement of the remote, hidden would be great, or movable). Maybe double sided velcrow on dash somewhere, and at night moved to center console)
2. Hertz MLK2 set(passive with two huge crossovers the size of PDX's more or less). Also looking for tweeter placement ideas.
3. 15" SSA Xcon(tire well? weird shape angled box?), other option is two 12" Mag v4 somehow, or I may be able to get a beefy single 12" like AA Havoc or something in that range if 15" is a stretch without heavy modding.
4. Brax 2F IPC
5. Arc Audio 2300SE x 2
Any ideas and help in this would get you great karma points, guys. I normally use Number1 Sound and have been happy, but now I am wondering if I can go with other capable installer where I dont have to pay those car audio shop fees. If anyone is up to do an install e.g. Bigredguy or avidedtr, we can meet and discuss. This project may require some skills and access to machinery/tools/materials/carpeting/vynil to build stuff and wantnot. I greatly appreciate it.

I had almost purchased a gen coupe myself and found the trucnk a pretty decent size. I've had a wheel well installed sub before, if you seal it up properly and make sure that you have enough cubic feet for it, it actually sounds pretty nice. A single 12" should do the trick if your into weight savings. I am guessing your not looking to compete, just a decent sounding system since your keeping the original deck?

Thanks for your reply. The trunk is tiny for my big application. I am not used to working with small trunks. As for 12" and 15", weight is like 5 lbs difference, so that won't matter much, what matters is the enclosure size for 15" and how to encorporate it. I always found 12" Fi Q to have the best overall performance/weight ratio. My buddy has one and it's great, but I do love my Xcon, it is just a beast low end monster, and I cannot force it to distort no matter what lol, heavier sub though. Trevor(Thumpper) on here cut me a great deal on two 15's and I could not refuse.
No, I never compete, I just like my music, I do show my face on SQ comps once in a while. I could not pass up the deal I got on this car. I love she, and I got it brand new 2010 base model for $18,995.00 plus taxes and freight, no admin fees, etc.
In my Golf, I now switched out the Arc amps, and put in DLS A3 on fronts and Sundown 1200SAE on subs. Coouldn't find the adopter cable, otherwise, I would have thrown in a Zapco C2K 6.0 on front and DLS on subs, as the three 10's run at 1.33 ohms and that is perfect for the DLS when bridged. Having fun playing around

Aren't installs like this why you pay top dollar to installers? You've got a brand new vehicle with top notch components that you want installed, and you wanna chinse out on the install? I can see where you're coming from, believe me, but the install is where you shouldn't cut any corners...

I am not cutting corners, perhaps I should have specified more clearly, that I want an installer with access to everything that may be required, if not, then it's a no go. I mentioned Julian, who installs himself and wins comps, so that is the direction I am aiming for. I can do a hack job myself lol

I dont have the dimensions, that is why I post here, so that hopefully I can get catered to and save money, if this thing is a no go, I will go to Number 1 Sound and let them worry about dimensions etc. Just throwing it out there and see what happens.
I listen to mostly Trance and House.
And I've been trolling some sites too, here they are for reference, mine and everyone's.

Appreciate the thought and I'm flattered to be mentioned in the same sentence as Julian.....I'd love to help you out Sasha, but I am up to my armpits at the moment....if it's not my new truck to figure out during the evenings the Mrs. keeps dragging me up to the cottage on the weekends....kinda hard to argue given the amazing weather......
I can think of a guy who could help but he lives west of the GTA and he's stupid busy right now as well......must have something to do with a couple more shows coming up or some such......
Sounds like you may have to bite the bullet on this one, for now anyways.....
