Hey guys, I tried my first install yesterday and now my car won't start anymore. It will crank, but not start for some reason. The order I wired my car was first disconnect the negative terminal, then attached the red power wire to the battery (with the fuse on the amp power wire disconnected) and then attached it to the amp. Then I grounded the amp and attached the negative terminal back on the battery. Finally , I attached the fuse on the red amp power wire together and there was a spark. AFterwards, I tried to start my car but it would not anymore. Did I connect the wires in the right order?

Maybe the battery is dead! Test the battery to see if it is fully charged. Maybe it is charged just enough to crank the car but not start it. It sounds like a battery issue to me. And if that is not it or you've already checked it, I am not sure what the problem might be!

I wished, I used a battery booster thing to jump it, but it still wouldnt start. The funny thing is, according to the battery booster thing, it reads that the total voltage between the 2 terminals is zero. It is definately not broken because we tested it on another car.

what is a fusable link? Can any of you more knowlegable guys tell me the chances of this happening to a car? I can imagine that the car has some kind of precautions in order to not let "idiots" like me screw it up :(

im not sure on yours but i beleive their is usually 2 fuse boxes. one under the hood and other inside the cab. but this going off a ford ranger. look at the fuses first. test all with a ohm meter. their is a fuse link on the + on the under hood fuse box. follow the + to where it goes. test it for ohms but battery terminals disconnected of course [img]smile.gif[/img] . sounds like a fuse to something is blown.

thanks for the help, I've check both fuse boxes but none of the fuses appear to be blown. It tries to crank but won't start. There is sparks but my mechanic told me that the power transistor? might be blown and then engine is having troule stepping up the voltage in order to start the engine. Does this seem feasible?

my car did the same thing, check the egr fuse. I replaced the fuse and the car turned right over; otherwise, it would just crank and crank.
