Distribution Block

Looking for some advice,

I am going to be running two amps (one for subs, one for fronts), and I am wondering what type of distribution block i should be buying (fused, non-fused)?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

G

Get a fused one for the power side and if you use a distro for the ground, then a non fused for that, but, do yourself a favour and goto this site, scroll down on the right side to #14 and read it thoroughly.

If you are going to run a capacitor, use it as a distribution block sort of speak. Those blocks just add resistance, and degrade the performance potential.

^^resistance is nothing he'll notice and they protect his equipment and vehicle should the smaller guage wire running to his amp come loose and short on something. Pre-caution above all else!

Yes, but they're ways to be carefull while limiting losses in the system.

You might want to take a look at these. They make life alot easier.

Outside of the SPL systems and the crazy things they do to get numbers your amps should be fused 12-15" from each amp regardless if they have on board fusing. Your main line needs to be fused under the hood to stop you car from burning up and each amp should be fused. These are safe installation practices that should be used. Protect your investments.

ok..

so, i do all of this research re: fuses etc, plus what i hear from all of you on the site, then i go down to the local reputable car audio shop and they sell me a non fused distro block. now, i get home and cant stop thinking about what i have read regarding fusing etc, so i proceeded to buy a fused block and will be returning my non fused block to the store tonight. maybe, at the end of the day i dont need a fused distro block but i didnt feel comfortable especially if i ammaking an investment, albeit not that huge in dollars. Its like driving with insurance, you pay for it even if you dont get into an accident but if you did and you didnt have it you would have wished you did, no reason to just do it right the first time!

Thanks alot everyone for your responses
