I'm thinking about getting a custom fiberglass install done in my trunk but i am new to this and not sure about a few things. Will i lose db's or sound quality or will it sound the same as having subs in a box. Any info you guys have about fibreglassing in general would be greatly appreciated. By the way, i don't plan on doing this myself, i have a friend who is really good with it and did an install in his own car.

I just built a fiberglass box for my car and I think it sounds great. I have built quite a few of them for customers in the past. This is the first time I did it for myself but I am happy with how it sounds.

dude. scrap the fiberglass idea.

Get a blow job. Those are pretty nice and are fairly cheap if you know where to look.

ok.........by the way, for an install for a fibreglass box, is 650$ unreasonable to build a fibreglass box that fits flush where the spare tire used to be? its on a 1981 lemans station wagon.

^ a man after my own heart, building a box worth more than the car!

Depends on the glass work but SQ should be fine ... now as for the big spl in a glass box.. not a great plan.

$650 seems a little rich, but it is all about complexity though and what you described audio rookie didnt sound expensive.

most competitors will tell you that fiberglass is a waste of money. this is because when you actually compete, you have to change your setup many times in order to optimize your install. If you really want an spl vehicle. do not do fiberglass.

If you are looking for an enclosure that looks bad *** and may still end up being fairly loud you can do fiberglass.

If you were doing a sealed fiberglass enclosure, you may find it hard to determine how high your final enclosure volume is. And thuse making it hard to get the right factory recommendations.

If you arent encredibly serious about competition. Then go for it. Fiberglass looks bad ***. Its a lot of fun too, you should try doing it yourself. Its not very hard when you get the hang of it.

I would say go with the fibergalss. $650 is kind of high for a simple cabinet like you described though. Even if you want SPL, when built properly a fiberglass box can be just as strong as an MDF caninet. Or to save cash, build an MDF cabinet, and rework the front so that it looks like all fiberglass.

the thing you have to remember about fiberglass work is that it is very labour intensive hence the bigger price tag

Excuse me for being a "noob" but, WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT!?!? </font>
WOW... That was a joke if you didn't notice. I don't really wanna go into great detail explaining about blow jobs for fear of getting kicked off this nifty lil forum. haha. But if you don't know what a blow job is then you probly have some serious social problems.
