in my old car I was using a bolt for something as a ground and it worked fine the whole time i was using my crappy amp (kenwood) and then when i switched to a PG amp i thought nothin of it to leave the ground. but after one day with the new amp it messed that sub up so bad from the ground being so bad. i dont know what made it do that all of sudden but it was still cool. Not for the people in the car with me the sub started to burn inside the box luckly it went out right away but when i took the sub out of the box that was the nastiest smell ever

Im not 100% sure why but right in my Zapco owners manual it says not to use this as a ground point.Mabey because it does not gound to the rest of the car to prevent static problems from getting to electrical components?

 

Vehicle dependent. You need to get the area clean though as always.

I used the seatbelt on my current car. Grounded it very good and tested with the DMM and it was excellent.

 

I personally wouldn't use the seatbelt bolt due to its altering a safety component of the car.

Drill a 1/2-3/4 hole / take a wirebrush and clear any paint away / get a locking nut / lock washer and bolt from Canadian Tire / get a proper ring connector for your wire (Welding/Industrial supply Store) / Crimp your Wire (Vice works nice) / Connect it all together and use a silicone based sealant / wax or paint to seal where you removed the paint.

Do it right the first time.. and never worry about it again [img]smile.gif[/img]
