having troubles
im hooking up a mtx tc4004 and 2 mtx subs i cant get any sound out of subs but the light is on on the amp like there is power going to it i have checked the rca's and i cant get it to work i know im missing something and i need some help
ya i checked the wirring to the subs all the wiring is in place as far as i can tell the manual says something it will only engage on the front high level inputs so do i have to wire it to the high level inputs cause it is on the rca's now
Make sure the head-unit has been set to send the subwoofer signal. Could be something as simple as that. Depends what you're using for a head-unit, though. But it should be something you turn on from the head-unit menu. I'm not certain if you have a sub-woofer pre-out on the deck, or are you using the Rear output from the deck? If it only has front and rear outputs, then you should be using the rear. Those RCA's should be plugged into the rear RCA input of the amplifier.
How have you got the subs wired to the amp? And how is the amp setup, as far as filters are concerned? I read the manual for this amp online, there's no mention of using the high level inputs. It does say you'll achieve better results by using the RCA's.

i didnt think i would need to wire it to the high out put but im looking at the manual on the second page #2 it says in brackets four channel amps will only engage on the front high-level inputs
i have a sony xplod CDX-GT41OU head unit ive played withthe settings and i cant find anything it said it for a amp you have to change it to rear out but it is aleready there now and it still doesnt work
as for how it is wired it its wired to the back speaker out put 14 gage wire to the subs there is a light that comes on when i get the sytem on so it is turning on i think but thats as far as it goes

I think that is referring to the amp's ability to power-on, without the remote turn on wire from a head-unit. A lot of OEM radios don't have this wire, so they build amps that will turn on when they get a signal from high-level (speaker wire) inputs. Your Xplod unit has a remote turn-on wire, that should be wired to the amp remote turn-on terminal. So when you turn the deck on, the amp will automatically power up.
The manual on the deck says you can switch between REAR and SUB out. Setting the unit to SUB out, means you'll no longer be able to fade to the rear speakers. Since fading to the rear, which is now a signal intended for your subwoofer, would mess things up. So you need to set that to sub.
According to your manual it says to "press and hold the select button until the setup screen appears. Once you have the setup 'screen' up, press the select button until it says SUB/REAR, then you turn the volume **** to select either REAR OUT or SUB OUT."
You need to select SUB out. You can also access the Low Pass Filter setting from the setup screen. You can leave it off, as you'll be able to adjust the filter via the amplifier. To be on the safe side, you could set it 78Hz. Then if you accidentally set the Low-pass on the amp wrong, at least the head-unit is stopping the high frequencies from reaching the amp any way.
What load are these two subwoofers putting on the amp? Maybe the amp is going into protection, because the load is less than 4 ohms.
You should be bridging the amp as well. The positive wire from the sub box should go to the positive on the rear left positive, and the negative wire from the sub box should go to the rear right negative.

i have two MTX MZS1004 subs they are in seperate enclosures they arnet in one box so how do you want me to wire them still bridge them cause right now i just have all the wires running back to the amp from both subs the amp has a red light on at the back that comes on i thought it was power cause it is wired with the remote wire strait from the head unit like you descibed i got all that the other speakers work fine i also have 2 6x9's i could hook up to the sub if it needs more power
If you're not running the amp in bridged mode, then you're only putting 50W to those subwoofers, which could be why they're not making any sound. The specs on that particular sub states that its a 4 ohm speaker. But to get enough power you have to bridge the amp channels. That way you'll get the 200W the amp is amp is rated for when bridged. Should be running it two channel mode.
You should take a picture of where all your wires are connected, and posts it up here. If that's right, we know its not the wiring, and you have another issue. I need to see what you have...
