Hey, i was wondering if someone could answer my questions.

I've beeen trying to install a new stereo unit in my 94 camry, i've never done it before but i thought it would be simple enough. I took out the factory one, and tried to install the new one (a sony explode) not sure the exact model but if it's import, if it is i can find out. Anyway, turns out i needed to buy an adapter of sorts, that corrected the type of "end" that was on the old factory one.

It didn't work, it's strange it just wont turn on...maybe i forgot something, i dunno.
But now there's kind of a burning smell, and the headlights wont turn on when the car is off, and various other problems.

First off, can anyone tell me why there's a burning smell...anything i can do?

Secondly, does anyone know the correct way to install this stereo...any how to's on the internet i could find, or a simple explanation.

and Thrice, How much approx. should it cost to get this installed somewhere professionally

If you smell a burning smell, I would take it straight to a professional. Chances are you fried the deck or shorted a wire (which is even worse if you can't find it). I think you have to see an install for yourself to see how it is done; internet won't help too much.

Hey, where in Dartmouth are you located? I might be able to pop out some time this week/weekend if necessary.

Otherwise id give the guys at Atlantic Car Stereo in Dartmouth a call, you'll probably be talking to Romesh or Joe. Theyre good guys there, they'll be able to help you out.

I almost forgot. It depends on if you need a dash kit or wiring harness, but basic install is usually around 35-45 dollars depending on where you go.

wow that's not much at all, i was told somewhere around 100. which is a little steep, in my opinion.

I live in around cole harbour area, just short of there really just within the bounds of dartmouth. but i wouldn't ask you to do that, very nice of you though.

i'll give them a call, seemed like nice guys last time i went in.

thanks very much for your help.
