help needed install a amp

hey i'm tryin to install a Amp and Sub i jus bought
i have it all connected, wires from the battery to the Amp and the ground .
i alos have the mem from the deck to the amp. and all the speakers wirtes connected too. The problem is i can't get any sound from the amp/sub . the amp has a LED it comes on when i turn on the deck, no sound. any idea what i'm doing wrong.
also if i remove the RAC cable from the deck i get no power to the amp? is that how it should be.
oh yeah it's a 12AWG wire kit?

Sounds like you do not have a good ground. When the amp does not have a good ground it looks for another one, in this case through the rca cables shield to the cd player and it's ground. Double check your ground. Make sure it is clean bare metal, not a painted surface. Make sure as well that the rca cable has not been clinched or had a screw put through it. If problems persist post up more info like the vehicle and sub / map / cd and where the ground is.

You can also try using another source connected to your amp. Try plugging a separate CD player into the amp's RCA's and see if it will work then. If it does work then you have a problem with the connection from the deck to the amp, or the deck itself.

the ground spot wasn't any good
relocate it now works fine

I have a question for everyone i have just hooked up a Pyramid mosfet 600 watt 2channel amp to a 160watt legacy cd player.I have the amp pluged into the rca output connections but do i have to hook up any of the speaker wires from the stereo to the wores in the harness or does the rca hook ups take care of them..

4runner..the rca's connect your cd player to your amp

There still is a connection needed to your speakers.

im assuming you have some sound?

thanx abnormal,but no i dont have any sound goin to the speakers from the amp.I have tried everythibng i can think of but i have no sound.This morning i had a little bit of sound if i turned up my stereo all the way but then all of a sudden i lost power to the amp....any suggestions?
