Hi, does anybody know how to get the cheap stock 6x9 speakers out of a 97 Honda Civic Si.

Also, does anybody know if you can put 6.5" speakers in the front. The stock ones are 6". I was told by a guy at Future Shop (they only sell 6.5" and not 6") that 6.5" will replace my stock 6" speakers, but I got some 6.5" speakers and they don't fit.

Any help would be appreciated.

^ How do they not fit? Too deep? It is very common and almost expected that the back of the 'pocket' the speaker sits into will have to be cut out. Very minor mod.

A 5.25 will probably screw right in also but why compromise yourself - just cut the bucket.

Right on with the front speakers Dukk, but what about the back? My advice is to take it o a shop and let them do the rear speakers, pretty much every trim piece behind the doors has to be removed and it is quite tricky on those cars, If you have a full day to spend and can afford to replace a panel hr or there give it a try but it is cheaper and faster to just pay someone who has done it a few times.

a 97 civic (97 1.6 EL) and it takes 6.5's in the front. if it doesnt, i dont know what kinda ****ed up civic you have .

anyways, if the back of the speaker is too large, go look at a set of clarion SRS 1624 speakers... they fit perfectly, and come with tweeters ( )... and cost only about 129 canadian
