Hifonics BXi2006d goes into protect
I've had the amp for about a week and a few days now and I've notice when I play a song with more bass notes than others, with the gain up 3/4 the way, and probably 5-10 minutes of this and the amp will go into protect.
Last night I played Lil Flip - Game Over, then Paul Wall - I'm Throwed and half wat through im throwed the bass cut out. I stopped and checked the voltage (thought it might've drained my battery too much) but that was fine. Red light beside "Protect" was on. The amp wasn't hot. Thing is if I turn the bass boost down for 10-15 minutes it'll start running properly again. Is this just a defective amp or is it fixable? EDIT: It is currently running 1300w @ 2 ohms to (1) 12" 1000w premier sub (i have the knobs set so that it is 2/3 full) |
What impedance are your subs wired to?
Just 1 sub, wired at 2 ohms*** not 4 like i wrote up there.
Hmm... try moving the ground to another place perhaps?
will do, im going out to a car show in langley bc right now so ill post back if it does/doesnt work.
thanks worldind |
It's worth a shot, hopefully it makes a difference. If not, somebody should be able to figure it out.
your clipping the amp On a really big tone it will do that with Hifonices i believe it's a known issue with the 2006 model amps.
You're probably right that the amp is clipping, but since when do amps go into protect from clipping?
it hasnt done it yet, but I have a feeling it will.
by deep tone clipping, would it fix the problem if i tuned the subsonic to 35hz rather than 25hz which its on? also I changed the Bass EQ from about 7db to 5db (half way) |
just watch it will just die on yah
