how to carpet the back of the trunk lid...
I'm in the process of doing an audio install. One of the things I want is to have the back of the trunk lid covered in carpet. Most of the new european cars have a carpet piece there. Only thing is, I don't want to have to use fibreglass. If I just cover it really well with sound deadening then put carpet right on that, will I be able to get the same look?
Are there any other ways to do this?
Thanks

Hmmm...I think I have a picture of when I had my EQT's in the trunklid of my Cavalier. Lets see if I can find it.
But the beauty of carpeting is you can hid alot of little blemishes. So it doesn't have to be perfectly smooth like shinny fiberglass. Depending on your trunklid, you might be able to get away with just a piece of 1/4 or 1/8th inch mdf cut to shape and then trim it in carpet. Some people use a little short strand fiberglass (bondo) to make the contours a little smoother.
