from a 2002 Hyundai Elantra GT? I'm going to be installing my system in it tomorrow, but I've never taken the door panels off a car before, and I've heard that it can be somewhat difficult.
Any help/info would be greatly appreciated |
Most cars, especially imports, are very easy. A lot of the parts simply snap into place.
It might be more complicated though if you have a power package. If you don't have power locks/windows, everything should come off by snapping off a covering and then unscrewing. On your window crank, a plastic piece should pop off revealing a screw. On you door handle, a screw or two may be visible, or a plate should pop off revealing a screw. On the arm rest, same thing, remove a plastic covering which should reveal some screws. The arm rest might not be as cut and dry if you have a power package - I've never removed the door panels on a car with power windows/locks. I would image that you would do the same as above, just once you have the arm rest off the door, you would likely have to unplug a wire harness or two. I have removed door panels on a Toyota, VW, Honda, and Pontiac. All of which had pretty much the same procedure. |
I have power windows and locks in my car not that it'll help much but I watched somebody take off part of the panel of my driver side door to fix my window once, and there was a part in the doorhandle on the face part u pop out (plastic piece as he stated up above my post) that reveals a screw. and possibly some screws on the underside of the door handle. As for everythign else on a new car like that i can imagine that everythign somewhat pops/snaps off. Thats my 2 cents lemme know how it goes. If your still lost ask the dealership or a mechanic lol.
Oh yeah and the hardest part of taking anything apart is putting it back together! I found that out today on my mission to get rid of rattles in my car! lol Found things to come off that I never thought possible to come off :D lol. Thanks for the input guys
I haven't had a chance to get into the doors yet, but I did get my HU installed over the weekend and it made a huge difference in the sound quality, even with the stock speakers  Unfortunately, I'm not entirely sure when I'll have the time to install my subs, amps, and components. |
Oh yeah, I've got the power package as well...any info on that would be awesome as well :D
