I've been taking advantage of some of the warmer weather outside (well, above 0 anyway ) to do some sound deadning. Anyknow know the trick to removing the rear seats in a 96-00 civic sedan or a 97-00 acura EL?

Merci Beaucoup..

lemonlime,

The rear seat side bolsters each have a bolt located at the bottom side center (between the bottom of the bolster and the rear bench seat) you will need to remove these and then you can slide the bolsters up (toward the roof) to release the two hooks that secure each bolster allowing you to remove them.

Remove the 14 clips from the seat back mat.

The fold down seats should be easy enough to remove - there are 6 bolts that attach the seat backs to the pivot brackets. PLUS one bolt that runs laterally attaching the Center Pivot Bracket to the center pivot support - this bolt also attaches to the large (left) seat back.

The rear bench seat has one bolt located near the center back side of the bench - remove this and then pull the back edge up (toward the roof) to release the two seat cushion hooks that secure the front front edge of the seat. You should now be able to lift the front edge of the seat up.

Pretty easy - but BE CAREFUL with the bolt that attaches the center pivot bracket... I learned the hard way that a "torque wrench is your friend".

Hope this helps!

Thanks a ton for the helpful information! Going to brave the removal once it gets a little warmer outside again. Going to print it for reference
