Sounds like he didn't hook them up to anything in the harness as yet, although I can't see how that would affect the dash lights. I know that my dimmer is on different line. But the way the fuses are would you believe that the you can blow 3 different ones and still have no dash lights?

To me it sounds like he has grounded the deck to the illumination wire and each time he turns on the lights blows the fuse in the circuit. Disconnect the deck entirely, make sure the wires are not touching, then replace the blown fuse and check to see if you have dashboard illumination again.

i'll check the fuses to see if anything is out, but i already looked and couldn't find anything, and i haven't done any weird wiring.

There are illumination + dimmer wires that run from the car into the plastic fitting. from there i use a wiring harness (the harness includes the oranges wires for illumination and dimmer) and connect the wires on the harness to those on the harness for the pioneer deck.

there is no where to connect the orange wires on the harness to the pioneer harness

the pioneer deck harness has the red / yellow / black standard acc/ground, the blue system wire but nothing else (other than the speaker wires).

i'm gonna go and pull everything out again and double check

Disconnect the afermarket deck totaly from the car, so that only the OEM connector is left. Your dash lights should work. If they do not, look for a blown fuse. If you find a blown fuse and get the lights to work, and then reconnect the aftermarket deck and loose the lights again, then obviously you wired something up wrong.

guys.....thanks for all your help but i figured out what the problem is..........i'm a douchebag.

i double checked all the fuses inside the car and they were all good, so i ripped out my dash, pulled the HU, plugged in the old harness and radio, still no good.....then i realized i had only done a half assed check of the fuses under the hood because i didn't think any related to interior lighting would be out there....i checked again and obviously one of the 10amp fuses was blown.........replaced it and everything was fine

GG me

Thanks for all the help guys and sorry for wastin your time
