I've been thinking about trying a free air set up in my car. A 2003 SX2.0. I don't see this too often any more. Is there a reason for it? So I'm looking for a pair of 12's duel 4 ohm to use. I've done it with four 8" subs in my BMW 3 series. Works good, you just need to build a good baffle.

Looks like James is doing it in his Neon, Scott Buwalda did it in his Nissan, Mark Eldridge and I beleive Gary Biggs have IB as well.

okay so what is the best way of doing this? How well seald does the trunk need to be?

If you look at James car and Scott Buwalda's, the seats still fold down, so really the answer must be, it depends.

personal opinion, the trunk needs to be sealed enough to not rattle when the sub plays.

Doesn't need to be sealed persay ... simply has to not have holes that 'whistle'. Exhaust vents (the ones that the air from your interior gets out through) typically make a load of noise in IB cars.

the trunk has to be COMPLETELY sealed from the cabin area to do ib properly, period!, otherwise you will be doing it improperly, and quality will suffer in the end

Scott Buwaldas amp rack appears to seal his trunk pretty well though - but I have not seen it up close.

I'll agree that the more air tight it is, the better it is.
