Does anyone have an opinion on 'Ideal' brand meters?
I've been looking for a True-RMS clamp meter and the only one I've been able to find locally so far is an 'Ideal' brand, which I've never heard of. The model is the 61-736. I'm not looking for a top of the line meter... I just need something that can do the job. So, will this one do it? thx |
Ideal is a good brand, they make some great tools, I'd rather see you get a fluke or a greenlee, but your money, your meter, your choice. the ideal would be a great unit, I know people with them who love them.

Ideal makes a fine meter...for applications under 600 Vac. I have one at work, and the clamp on ammeter works great. If you need to measure 600+ volts with the probes however, it won't read. Nice little unit and I've had it for 2 years now with no problems. It has been tested against Flukes before for accuaracy and it was bang on.

I only stopped in at the Electrical and Plumbing store on Ogilvie.. it's a special order item so if anyone else stocks it I'm guessing it would be cheaper |

You can also check out the Fluke Canada website, it has a dealer finder. Spend the extra on a fluke, you wont regret it. http://ca.fluke.com/caen/wtb/default.htm |
Jordy, I got mine at Guillevin Intl. They are at the top of Kirkwood, cross Richmond and they are in the little complex there. Not sure what kind of a price you'd get from them, but give them a call and see. I can get a better deal for sure (commercial account) and pick it up for you if you'd like. Whatever they quote you, I should get somewhere around 20-30% off.

If he can't help me I will definitely take you up on your offer for the discount. Thanks!! |
